Rose O'Neill

Have you seen a kewpie doll? I am  Rose O’Neill and I am famous for my cartoons and creating the kewpie doll in 1909. The Kewpie was one of the first mass produced toy in the United States. I was born June 25,1874. Growing up I always had an interest in art.  I attended the Sacred Heart Convent School. l entered and won first prize at a children’s drawing competition, this gave me a passion for art. I got married in 1902 and moved to Bonniebrook farm near Branson, Missouri. During my life I created drawings, paintings, and sculpture. I loved all types of art. I donated many works of art to the College of the Ozarks and supported the Branson community. I died in 1944 in Springfield, Missouri knowing I was the first published female cartoonist in the United States.
