Molly Brown

Hi my name is Margaret Tobin brown. I was born on July 18,1867 in Hanniba,l Missouri. I am famous for surviving the sinking of the Titanic. I was the second of four children. I also had 2 half siblings. I attended private school which was taught by my aunt Mary O'Leary until I was thirteen years old. After I shortly moved to LeadvilleIi met James Brown at a church picnic. I married on September 1, 1886. We had two children: Lawrence and Catherine Brown. A few years later we legally separated but we did not divorce. While I was in France I learned that my young grandson was ill.  Worried, I  made plans to immediately return to the United States and  I booked a first class passage on the maiden voyage of the Titanic the largest and most extravagant ship of its time. While the Titanic started to sink I helped others into lifeboat no.6. While in the boat I encouraged the other women in the our lifeboat not to give up hope, work together, and continue rowing until help is sighted. I continued my work in N.Y. I worked for labor rights, women's rights, childhood literacy, and historic preservation. Out of nowhere I suddenly died of cerebral hemorrhage on October 26, 1932 at the age of 65.
