Jane Froman

Hello my name is Jane Ellen Froman. I was a famous singer and an actress. I was born November 10, 1907. My father and my mother divorced when I was five so I had to move with my mom to Columbia, Missouri. I took piano lessons when I was young. I went to Christian College and a finishing school. Then I started singing at WLW radio studios and doing commercials. I married Don Ross. I went to Hollywood and did a handful of movies. I went to Broadway in the 1930’s. I started singing for troops in the military to raise their spirits. On the way to a concert I had a plane crash and was one of the 15 survivors.  I had many injuries and had to wear a knee brace for the rest of my life from the injury to my leg. I met a man named John Burn and we married after my recovery. I still did movies and sang. I had 39 operations  in my lifetime.  I moved to New York and retired.  When I retired I reconnected with a college friend  Rolland H. Smith and we were married. I supported many charities and helped people around the world. I came out of retirement to sing in a Christmas program. I died of heart failure on April 22, 1980. I  have three stars on the Hollywood Walk of Fame. I am remembered for my inspiration, hope and perseverance when faced with trials.
