George Brett

Hi my name is George Brett. I was born May 15, 1953 in Glendale West, Virginia (age 63). I had 3 older brothers 2 of which played baseball with a minor league contract. My third brother made it to the majors as a pitcher. Right out of high school I was drafted by the Kansas City Royals. I played in the minors for about a month playing 3rd base then I got brought up batting 125. When I was brought up I took my slump with me. Finally I asked my batting coach, Charlie Lau if he could help and he did. He taught me how to protect the whole plate. One game the score was 4-5 Yankees, runner on second I hit a go-a-head home run. Then the Yankees manager came rushing out of the dugout and then the umpires called me out for having too much pine tar on my bat. After that, I got into a huge fight with the umps and got ejected from the game. Then they looked over the bat one month later and called it a homerun and we won the game. I played for 21 years then I couldn't do it any more. I was elected into the hall of fame in 1999. 98.2 is the percentage I got so I could get elected. After my baseball career I opened my own restaurant and retired.
