Charles Lindbergh

Hello my name is Charles Lindbergh. I was a famous pilot. I was born in Detroit in 1902. My parents’ names were  Charles and Evangeline. My dad was elected to Congress, so I grew up in Minnesota and Washington, DC.  As a boy, I went to an air show which inspired me to start flying.  I moved to Nebraska to work for the Nebraska Aircraft Corporation. They bought old military planes and fixed them up then sold them. I became a pilot and was the top of my class at army flying school. After being in the army I moved to St. Louis and worked as a pilot. There was a man that offered a prize of 25,000 to anyone who flew across the Atlantic Ocean, but I did not have enough money to participate in it. So the St. Louis businessmen gave me some money to build a plane called “The Spirit of St. Louis” that could hold a lot of fuel. I flew across the Atlantic Ocean and won the prize. I got married and worked for Airline companies. My son was kidnapped and killed, so my wife and I moved to England. I helped during World War II by helping produce B-24 Bombers and flying missions. I spent the rest of my life supporting conservation and helping airlines.  I died in Maui, Hawaii because of lymphatic cancer. When you think of the Atlantic Ocean think of me flying over it.
