Arthur Bryant

My name is Arthur Bryant. I was born on a farm in Branchville  Texas in 1900. I graduated from Prairie View A & M. I studied agriculture and was offered a job to teach school. One day, I came to Kansas City to visit my brother Charlie who was working for barbecue master, Henry Perry. Perry offered me a job so I decided to move to Kansas City. In 1946, I took over the restaurant and changed the sauce. I added molasses in the vinegar  based sauce. People loved it. My  restaurants are known for their basic decor. Each location has red brick, formica tables and fluorescent lighting. I died December 28,1982. I was 82 years old and died of a heart attack.
