Alexander Majors

Hi, I am Alexander Majors, I was born on October 4, 1814. I started the Pony Express in St. Joseph Missouri. The Pony Express delivered mail by horse and rider. When I was 12 my mom died from a wagon accident and some really bad injuries. When I was 13 I was left in charge of our farm while my father made an ultimately fruitless journey to the Rocky Mountains to prospect for sliver. In 1848, I started hauling overland freight on The Santa Fe Trail. On my first trip I set a new record of 1564 miles in 92 days. My freight company continued to grow and by the mid 1850s I had earned a reputation as one of the most reliable freighters in the west. In the early 1890’s Bill Cody arranged for me to write  my own autobiography. I died on January 14, 1900, at the age of 85.
